2008 we decided to extend the fun over the whole weekend by organising accommodation at Hazelwood in Dawlish Warren.
On Saturday we saw several minis arrive in preparation for the big day on Sunday. After everyone had a chance to settle in it was over to the Club House for the evening’s entertainment and some interesting party games involving Silly Mini Owners.
Sunday (fun-day) we awoke to Sunshine but Mr Windy giving a firm “No way Jose” to putting up our big 9 metre gazebo. The Silly Minis braved Snow, Hail and rain but it did not deter the spirit of Silliness and 45 minis arrived in nice time at Crealy to be parked up INSIDE.
Much fun was had by all, Sidmouth Herald came and took pictures of the delightful Alyx Barker (the then current Miss Exeter.)
The Silly Mini’s then took part in the convoy to Dawlish Warren Green through the deer park and the daffodil covered grounds of Powderham Castle where the Western Morning News were waiting to take pictures of us all for an article in their newspaper.
At Dawlish Warren Green we were lucky to have just enough good weather breaks to do the Rocker Race, Auction, Raffle, and Awards. The prize for the fastest rocker was won and donated BACK into the auction, and the winner actually bid for it and won it again!!!
Sunday night saw more club entertainment and Crazy Laney announced that the day’s total raised was about £900 for C.H.S.W. to which the singer (Tom Jones a-like guy) announced that he would donate a fantastic £200……… WOW. We then KNEW we had achieved our goal of raising a 4 figure total.
Monday Morning came far too early and saw some of the Silly Mini’s run to Paignton Pier for a spot of Brekky and Ice Cream.
So………. To sum it all up in a few words…………EGGStreemely……….. Nice, friendly folk, good times, pleasant staff at all places we were at, accommodation, grand run and a fantastic amount raised for the Children’s Hospice South West
Roll On 2009 let the Silliness Continue……………………………………………………
